Slope Combat Challenge

2020

Welcome to FlashPoint STEM’s Slope Combat Challenge 2020.  This school year teams will compete for air superiority on the slopes of Koko Head overlooking the famous Hanauma Bay.  Slope combat is where student teams battle to knock each other’s scratch built gliders out of the sky.  The competition is end game but getting there with aircraft that can compete and pilots that have the will to survive is more than half the battle.  Using simple and inexpensive materials such as foam board and hot glue, teams will build their slope combat gliders from scratch using standard plans.  They’ll install and program the electronics, and then test their aircraft at the proving grounds on the cliffs of Makapu’u.  Once an airworthy aircraft has been established, pilots are first trained to fly, and then to hunt.  Building your squadron of combat gliders and pilots occurs throughout the year, but competition begins in the spring with the final battle in May.  Will your team have what it takes to achieve air superiority?  Join us for FlashPoint STEM’s Slope Combat Challenge 2020.
